Every piece of gold jewellery we sell is hallmarked by the Bureau of Indian Standards. This page explains what that means and how you can check it yourself, without taking our word for it.
What is on your jewellery
A BIS hallmark on an Indian gold article carries three things, stamped or laser-marked on the piece:
- The BIS mark — the standards body’s own logo.
- The purity grade — 22K916, 18K750 and so on.
- The HUID — a six-character Hallmark Unique Identification code, unique to that single article.
The HUID is the important one. No two pieces share it. It is issued by the hallmarking centre, not by us.
Checking it yourself
- Install the official BIS Care app from the Play Store or App Store.
- Open Verify HUID.
- Enter the six-character code stamped on your jewellery.
BIS will show you the purity and the registered jeweller for that article. It should match what is printed on your invoice and shown on the product page. If anything differs, contact us straight away.
What the purity marks mean

| 22K916 | 22 karat | 91.6% — the usual choice for Indian gold jewellery |
| 18K750 | 18 karat | 75.0% — harder, common for diamond and stone settings |
| 14K585 | 14 karat | 58.5% — hardest, used for everyday and lighter pieces |
A lower karat is not lesser jewellery. Diamond and gemstone pieces are usually set in 18K because the metal has to hold the stones securely; pure gold would bend.
Where you will see the HUID
- Stamped on the piece itself.
- On the product page, listed alongside the weight and purity.
- Printed on your tax invoice.
- On the verification page reached by scanning the QR code on your invoice.
Silver
Hallmarking is voluntary for silver in India, so not every silver article carries a BIS mark. Where a piece is hallmarked we say so on the product page; where it is not, the stated purity is ours and we stand behind it.
Weight
Two weights appear on your invoice. Net weight is the gold alone, and it is what you are charged for at the day’s rate. Gross weight includes any stones and findings. You never pay the gold rate on stone weight.
